Most Wished For Games: October 2015

Nosferatu: The Wrath of Malachi and Ubinota might seem like unlikely leaders in October’s Most Wished For Games on Razer Cortex: Deals, but you might have noticed the trend- they were part of two huge giveaways that were extremely well received by our fans. We teamed up with Bundle Stars and IndieGala to give out more than 200,000 Steam keys to our Razer users. The keys were all snapped up in under 60 hours, catapulting these 2 games up to the top of the ranking. For the lucky users who acted fast, we hope you are enjoying the keys. For the others, remember to hit us up on Facebook and Twitter for updates on our next giveaway.

“Nosferatu: The Wrath of Malachi and Ubinota leap to the top two spots in the leader boards for October after a huge fan turnout for in our latest Steam key giveaways.”

Fallout 4 held on to the 3rd spot in anticipation of its launch, we reckon that it would have taken the first spot were it not for the widely popular Steam key giveaways. While November looks to have a pretty robust list of new games, we think it’s safe to say that Fallout 4 will still claim the lion’s share of the limelight.

“Fallout 4 remains the most anticipated game for the Quarter.”

Minecraft: Story Mode makes its debut at the 5th spot following its highly raved about release, while Mad Max drops out of the Top 10 after a single month. Grand Theft Auto V, Rocket League, Counter-Strike Global Offensive and Ark: Survival Evolved remain in the Top 10.

Most Played Games: October 2015

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive takes first place across the board except for the Americas in October’s update for Most Played Games on Razer software. Usual suspects, League of Legends and Dota 2, retain their place in Top 10, but Dota 2 has seen an overall drop in play time. This is especially obvious in Asia, where Dota 2 has consistently placed at the top for the last 4 months. This is likely due to the fact that the much hyped about League of Legends Worlds was held this month, with over 1,000,000 viewers on Twitch alone. Battlefield 4 also sees an overall increase in position, making an appearance on the American leaderboards for the first time.

“League of Legends sees an increase in interest compared to fellow MOBA Dota 2, likely due to the highly publicized League of Legends Worlds.”

MOBA and First Person Shooters dominate the charts this month, with more than half of the titles on the board. The rise in popularity for eSports probably play a part in this, being spectator friendly and easy to get into with friends. With games like Battlefront and Overwatch coming up in the near future, fans of these genres will be spoilt for choice. We reckon that these two games will make an appearance in the coming months as Star Wars Battlefront launches in November and Overwatch expands its closed beta to more and more gamers across the world.

“Rise of eSports contribute to popularity of spectator-friendly games.”

Mad Max, one of September’s most anticipated games debuts in the list at the fifth spot.

The usual suspects retain their spots in the Top 10- including heavy weights like Grand Theft Auto V, Fall Out 4, The Sims 4 and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. We’re expecting Fall Out 4 to climb the ranks as we approach its launch in November, in what could be arguably become the launch of the year. Most Played Games: September 2015

In September’s update for Most Played Games on Razer software, the majority of titles have retained similar positions in the Top 10 across the board. After 2 months in the Top 10, Heroes Of The Storm bows out for Battlefield 4 to reclaim its spot in the top 10 for the 3rd time since March. DOTA 2 loses ground to League of Legends with the exception of Asia, and Minecraft grows substantially in playtime across the board – remember to hop onto Razer Arena with your friends if you’re a Minecraft fan!

Battlefield 4 has reclaimed its spot in the Top 10 on September.

Moba, first person shooters and RPGs continue to be the top three most popular genres- placing team play and player interaction as huge factors in game preference for users. Multiplayer online battle arena games and first person shooters in particular are also competitive, with a low barrier for entry play being F2P; making it ideal for a friendly match between groups of friends. These two genres are undoubtedly the most ideal genres to ease first time gamers into gaming, contributing to their popularity.

MOBA, First Person Shooters and Role-Playing Games remain the top three most popular genres for Razer users.

With BlizzCon coming up around the corner, we’re anticipating an increase in play time for Blizzard games in general as the event draws nearer- and looking forward to some multiplayer FPS madness in Overwatch. Did your most played game make the September list?

We expect an increase in play time for Blizzard games across the board with BlizzCon around the corner.

What’s the Razer software user’s typical gaming PC?

Today we look at the guts of the Razer software users’s typical gaming PC. The information we based on is compiled from Razer Cortex’s Diagnose feature. When Diagnose is engaged, Razer Cortex performs an in-depth and thorough report of all the components and settings applied to a system.

Through these anonymous reports we are able to get an idea of what components go into a Razer gamer’s PC.

What we see here are the most frequent specs of the PCs that were diagnosed through Razer Cortex. Overall they make up a mid tier gaming rig, which makes sense since Razer Cortex: Boost provides a great benefit to owners of these types of setups.

When it comes to GPU, a larger portion of Razer users go for AMD’s Radeon R9 200 Series that came out last year. Processing wise, the most common CPU, an Intel Quad Core i5 clocking in at 2.5 GHz is not top spec but still holds its own with most games.

With 4Gb of RAM being the most limiting component found here this system will struggle to run some of the most recent titles. On a hard drive disk of 500Gb you’ll be limited to a handfull of installed games before you start running out of room for more.

To put this setup into perspective, with these components you’d be able to fit the minimum requirements for a game like Grand Theft Auto V. To run games like Counter Strike: Global Offensive and League of Legends (the two most played games by Razer software users) you’re well taken care of with a similar setup.

For a more hardware demanding title like The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt this configuration is already below its minimum requirements falling short in the memory and CPU department.

When it comes to the recently released Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, although the RAM meets the minimum requirements, the processing power of this Intel chip, however, fails to reach that standard.

Most Played Games: July 2015

In today’s update we’ll check how the ranking of the most played games on Razer software in July.

This month gamers have spent less time playing the top 10 titles across the board. All the same, the two most played games were where gamers invested over 50% of their time.

Razer gamers spent more than 50% of their time on Counter Strike: Global Offensive and League of Legends in July

Counter Strike: Global Offensive continues to top the chart as the most played game on Razer software at a global level and in Europe. It seems the gap between CSGO and second placer League of Legends is shrinking. Could the classic shooter’s reign at the top be close to its end?

Minecraft pops up two positions to 3rd place pushing down Hearthstone which landed behind DOTA 2 in fifth.

Paid games accounted for almost 55% of the time played in the top 10

After a two month absence, Heroes of the Storm makes a comeback to the global top 10, keeping up the growing trend we saw in Europe last month. With this return, Battlefield 4 gave way to Blizzard’s MOBA in 10th position.

Team Fortress 2 rose to the sixth position even though play time dropped by around 1% while World of Warcraft stepped a peg up on the ladder.

Another Blizzard hit, Diablo 3 takes a hit, falling down to ninth from sixth as gamers spent less than half their time playing this dungeon crawler when compared to June.

Moba games were the most played of the top 10 with 42%, first person shooters in second at 34% and RPGs third at 16%

Still solid in second, Origin racks in just a little over a quarter of all store visits from Cortex: Deals users.

Green Man Gaming shows the gains of its June summer sales in July as it shoots up to third from eighth place. Gamers are learning that there are deals to be found outside of major stores like Steam during the summer season.

The only other rise registered in the top game stores of June was Humble Bundle, from ninth to sixth place. All the other stores on Razer Cortex: Deals (except Steam and Origin) saw a decline in their ranking positions.
